Inky Goodness is an online illustrators guild of sorts. By this I mean it has a large back catalogue of prestigious illustrators/designers that focus mainly on the aesthetics of an image, rather than its use-value appropriated by a client or company. In this respect I would use this as a platform on which I can further my practice, as well as a fantastic opportunity to network with other like-minded individuals. Since I cannot wholly rely on illustration for my own income, it is always best to get involved with other practitioners to benefit myself and my career.
They regularly host exhibitions/collaborations that have global connections, which time and self-development allows, would help me further to achieve my long term goals of travelling the world with my portfolio, opening more doors and hopefully new contacts.
Steph Baxter who was a third year when I started the course and an individual's work I greatly admire is also part of this collective. I will do a separate post on her though to give her due credit for her work.
Their shop offers bespoke prints from the illustrators associated with the site. The prints are a mixture of freelance work and aesthetic renderings all over £30 in price. This means that the actual industry cost of printing has been taken into consideration. Something that I will have to seriously look into after my alumni period expires since then I will be no longer paying concessional prices for my work to be produced.
