After a quick bit of research and reconsidering the initial approach for the brief, I have concluded that due to the nature of the idea I have including the wooden crate would not be appropriate for a press kit.
Instead the target audience should be the gamers themselves, since the press hounds would not appreciate a cumbersome wooden box full of junk. So instead I will be directing it to the consumers.
Limited edition games tend to have one item that can be used or interacted with, and the rest are game related ephemera, like manuals or concept art boxes.
I am thinking that due to the hypothetical nature of the box's contents that rather than rationalising the concept behind the game to support the deliverables, it should instead give the consumer somethings that can be interacted with and act as good promotional vessels. Especially in the case of the new Tomb Raider with a lot riding on it's reception.
So new items that will be used are:
- Ritual candle
- Branded manual
- Decorative game box, metal or finished wood with appropriate markings
- Coin, pressed
- Notebook in the guise of Lara's unfinished journal
In this instance, laser cutting, stock, metal work and crafting is paramount to the concept's conception.
